How many DJs does it take to beat Sarah Pang?
What do you do when you know you're not going to beat a professional tennis player at her own game? You start to get creative of course.
That's exactly what Kiss92 FM and One FM DJs did when they took on local tennis player Sarah Pang in a friendly at the Singapore Press Holdings (SPH) rooftop tennis court on Monday.
The 29 year-old is the only Singaporean who competes in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) circuit.
With Pang in the lead, Kiss92's Arnold Gay decided it was time to bend the rules.
Desperate times call for desperate measures, right?
The self-appointed umpire called for sudden death even though it was quite clear that there was no tie to be resolved.
Well, to his credit, it almost worked.
The rally between the two ended in dramatic fashion as Gay's return ball just about went out of play.
"Man... I was so close, I was so close!" he exclaimed after being defeated.
"In the end, Sarah Pang was lucky to win."
Sure...
Refusing to give up, Gay teamed up with One FM's Andre Hoden for a doubles match. Wait, more like 2 v. 1.
Team Hoeden and Gay emerged victorious over Team Pang.
A proud moment indeed.
But there was a surprise awaiting Pang.
Meet the DJs' secret weapon - Shaun T.
And the "sexiest man on radio" did exactly what Hoeden had brought him on to do - distract the pro.
Now that's something she won't be forgetting for a long time.
"It's really fun, I really enjoy doing this sort of thing. It's my first time hitting with the DJs and obviously it's a break from my normal routine of training," Pang said about the the day's friendly matches.
She also had some advice for aspiring tennis players.
"Don't think about professional yet, think about getting better, getting a really solid foundation and connecting with the right sort of coaches who can bring that out for you," Pang said.
