Singapore SportsHub hosting its first-ever water festival
Beat the heat with Singapore Sports Hub's first-ever water festival - the OCBC WaterFest 2015 - which will be held from July 3 to 5.
There will be various water-based sports, spectator events and entertainment. Admission is free.
The event is organised by the Sports Hub to foster a healthy lifestyle and to bring the nation together through sports.
Said event director Calvin Palyama: "Coming off the success we had in the recent SEA Games, especially with more than half of our gold medals (coming) from water sports... we want to promote water-based sports to the public, as well as showcase the unique land and water assets that we have at the Hub."
OCBC WaterFest 2015 includes activities such as water sports, a showcase of radio-controlled boats, and competitions hosted by National Sports Associations and their affiliates.
Over the three days, you can take part in water-themed activities like canoeing, kayaking, sailing and peddle boating.
The Sports Hub's Splash-N-Surf corner, which includes the wave-surfing area Stingray, will be available for to the public for free during OCBC WaterFest 2015.
Competitions held during the festival will feature the SportsHub Regatta, 200m dragonboating, canoeing and kayaking races - all to be held at the Kallang Basin.
Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, the Minister for Environment and Water Resources, will be the guest of honour on July 4, and will flag off the first-ever Sports Hub Regatta.
COMMUNITY
Sports Hub chief executive officer Philippe Collin-Delavaud said: "(This) is our way of helping Singaporeans and members of the public to continue their love affair with water and to reinforce the Hub as a place where everyone can experience sports and entertainment in a community that celebrates diversity and inclusion."
Fringe activities include a K-pop dance party and local band performances. In addition, talks on canoeing and kayaking will be held at the SportsHub Library.
The festival is set to attract more than 20,000 visitors.

Queues will open two hours prior to each water-based activity. The public may head down to various registration booths at the SportsHub over the three days.
PARKING
Parking tickets will be pre-sold to the public for July 4 and July 5; however, visitors are advised to use public transport.
