Sponzer Charity Bowling Challenge raises $42,000
The inaugural Sponzer Charity Bowling Challenge 2016 got off to a good start yesterday.
The charity event (right) raised $42,000, which will be used for programmes such as Learn To Bowl - which is held twice a year for disabled individuals who are interested in bowling, as well as training for the national para-athletes.
Working with the Bowling Association for Disabled (Singapore) (BADS), the event aims to promote bowling among the disabled in Singapore.
The event saw more than 100 participants join the para bowlers at the National Service Resort & Country Club bowling centre yesterday.
"The money will be going to the BADS, so that they are able to run the programmes that are needed for the para-athletes," said Remy Ong, former national bowler and head coach of the national team. He is also the president of Sponzer Group.
"With limited funds, there is limited training and they are not able to reach out to the handicapped individuals in Singapore."
