Suarez jibe in match day programme comes back to bite Man City
Luis Suarez might not be a saint, but he sure has a knack for responding to criticism.
Despite being slammed with lengthy bans throughout his career for various misdemeanours, the Barcelona striker has always found a way to bounce back.
This particular characteristic was clearly lost on Manchester City's match day programme writers.
The Blues' programme for their Champions League clash against Barcelona on Wednesday morning (Singapore time) featured an article showcasing the wealth of attacking options of their opponents.
However, in their attempt to talk up Barca's offensive capabilities, City's writing staff inadvertently saddled Suarez with several backhanded compliments.
In an article titled "Barca feast as Suarez eats crumbs", the piece suggested that the former Liverpool star and reigning EPL Player of the Year winner has been reduced to a "dogsbody" who "does the donkey work" in attack for the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar.
They would be words that Suarez would shove down City's throat as he fired Barca to a 2-1 victory at the Etihad Stadium, scoring both of the Catalans' goals.
While some might boil it down to banter, my money is on for some writer and sub-editor in Manchester feeling rather silly right about now...
