Vietnam win close mass road race gold
Thai Jutatip Maneephan thought she had won in her final frenetic dash to the finish line with Nguyen Thi That of Vietnam yesterday.
But the drama at Marina Bay South wasn't over yet.
The Vietnam team, armed with a video recording of the final moments of the women's mass start road race final, protested to the race officials.
In the end, the win was awarded to Nguyen, whose time of 2:49:42 was similar to Jutatip's, as the Thai was found to have "failed to keep in line in the last sprint".
