SEA Games Challenge: TNP takes on basketball
While I grew up in an era with a fair share of football legends, my No. 1 sport back in the day was basketball.
Sure, Fandi Ahmad and Eric Cantona were my football heroes, but they had a hard time competing for my affections thanks to Michael Jordan and his dominant Chicago Bulls.
Even though the Beautiful Game has since taken over my heart following the retirement of His Airness, I reckon that my basketball prowess — honed from countless hours of after-school play with my kakis — is comparatively head and shoulders above my barely existent footballing ability.
That said, have I bitten off a little more than I can chew by daring to take on national forward Ng Hanbin?
After all, I’ve only just returned to playing regularly not too long ago after piling on years of rust due to work commitments.
And while Hanbin looks like a nice chap, he goes by the nickname of Hannibal whenever he’s on the court with the Singapore Slingers.
Can I to spring a surprise win in a first-to-three baskets game of 1-on-1? Or will Hanbin live up to his moniker and have me for breakfast?
I do have my lucky Jordan jersey, you know.
