Must-see MVs
Beyonce, The Monkees and Major Lazer shake things up with art and dance
MAJOR LAZER (FEAT. NYLA & FUSE ODG) - LIGHT IT UP (MUSIC VIDEO REMIX)
If art exhibits sprang to life and started dancing, this is exactly what it would look like.
The dancers are literally works of art themselves and are overflowing with energy as they move passionately to the music. Each frame is mesmerising and the MV effortlessly holds our attention for its entire duration.
Method Studios has more than outdone the first Light It Up MV for the US EDM group released three months ago.
BEYONCE - SORRY
Beyonce certainly knows how to combine attitude and sass with art and class.
After opening with dancers moving gracefully on a train to the melody of Swan Lake, the focus shifts to US tennis star Serena Williams strutting powerfully through a lavish house before shaking her bum in front of a very comfortable Beyonce.
The US singer also flaunts her own moves by popping and locking at the end.
The MV is so empowering that we're not sure what we're supposed to be "sorry" about.
THE MONKEES - YOU BRING THE SUMMER
Even in their cartoon forms, The Monkees are determined to remind fans that they are still very much a 1960s rock band.
The 2D animation is delightfully playful while retaining an unapologetically retro vibe. Long-time fans will also be excited by a particular sequence in which the four US band members float through the air and morph into their earlier album covers.
The animation is apt for the young at heart.
