Quality time with family over the weekend for New Face 2015 winner
Nothing has really changed for The New Paper New Face winner Selynna Norhisham. The morning after her win, the 22-year-old administrative managerwas back at work.
She had a lot of paperwork to file, Selynna told The New Paper on Sunday.
"I'm still the same girl, but working on bigger things in the future," said Selynna, who beat 19 other finalists for the top spot in New Face 2015 on Thursday night.
She also picked up two other subsidiary titles: Subaru Miss Dynamic and New Look Miss Fashionista.
Her win means she now has a chance at a modelling career.
"A producer from Asia's Next Top Model and (a representative from) Beam Artistes gave me their name cards. And, oh, I have an appointment with NOW Model Managementthis Friday," she said enthusiastically.
But all that can wait.
It was family first for Selynna, who spent yesterday doing what she does almost every weekend - hanging out with her mother and extended family, which includes her grandfather, cousins, and their spouses and children.
Selynna, an only child who lives with her single mother, said: "I will always spend my weekends with my extended family, even if it's for just a simple meal or a lazy day."
They often find new places to visit, such as the Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve and Pulau Ubin.
HAWKER FOOD
Selynna's mother, Madam Zuriah Ismail, a businesswoman in her 50s, said: "One thing that bonds the whole family together is the love of hawker food."
So yesterday morning, it was breakfast with a group of 10 at cousin Nur Aniza Abdul Wahid's home in Pasir Ris. A smaller group then went to Bedok Food Centre for lunch.
Her cousin, Madam Nur Aniza, 39, a senior manager, said their families meet every week.
But because Selynna had been busy preparing for the New Face competition, it has been a while since they went out for their favourite foods like mutton soup, mee soto, banana fritters and masala tea.
After lunch, the group headed to Gardens by the Bay Eastfor a stroll.
Selynna then joined her cousin, Miss Nur Filzah Rohaidi, 27, a writer, for a yoga session at Yoga Movement.
Later that night, Selynna attended the Halloween Horror Nights event at Universal Studios Singapore with her boyfriend Farhan Angullia.
Mr Farhan, 22, a policeman, said: "Both of us are horror junkies. Selynna is very brave and loves exploring horror places."
And her plans today?
Selynna said: "I can finally sleep in on Sunday without worrying about New Face or work."
