Best and worst food experiences with Food Hero Sarah Benjamin
Before she became Asia's Food Hero last year, Sarah Benjamin was just your typical food blogger in love with the idea of finding new food.
Her enthusiasm has not waned as the past 12 months have seen her living the dream.
Being Food Hero saw the 25-year-old presenting her own show - Asian Food Channel's Must Try Asia - travelling the region, visiting cities and trying signature dishes.
The gastronomic gig was a dream come true, and meant Benjamin could leave the 9-to-5 world and start on a path similar to the celebrity chefs that she grew up watching like Jamie Oliver, Anthony Bourdain and Nigella Lawson.
She told us some of her best and worst food experiences as well as a handy tip for perfectly cutting onions.
Even after a whirlwind of experience of tasting and cooking food, Benjamin told M on Friday (May 8) that there is one food dream yet to be fulfilled.
"It would be a personal achievement but it's very difficult to replicate good dim sum at home."
Benjamin says that Singapore is still the best city for food, but there is one place that she would consider relocating to given the choice.
"I really love Japanese food. I could eat it every day," she said.
"So maybe just for the food I would move to Tokyo."
Now the hunt is on for Food Hero 2015, but Benjamin's journey is far from done. She is working on a new show for Asian Food Channel.
Benjamin won Food Hero 2014 after submitting a video of her cooking a dish with an ingredient she picked up in Bali.
Asian Food Channel and Food Network are on the lookout for two new Food Heroes.
