Sekai No Owari try durian and Mee goreng
How would a Japanese react to eating mee goreng and the king of fruits?
The New Paper convinced one of Japan's most popular and skilled creative groups, Sekai No Owari, to try some Singaporean food while they were in Singapore in December for an exclusive Spotify session.
Sekai No Owari, which literally translates to End of The World, consists of the group's leader and and lead guitarist Nakajin, Fukase on vocals, pianist and stage producer Saori and the masked clown DJ Love.
When asked about their music style, Nakajin said the group is not into any specific genres.
"When we create music, it is always different. But somehow, whenever Fukase adds his vocals, they become pop-ish," he added.
In 2014, the band collaborated with popular american act Owl City for the songs Tokyo and Mr Heartache.
In 2015, the band was asked to perform ANTI-HERO and SOS, the theme songs of the popular fantasy live-action films based on a commercially successful Japanese manga series, Attack on Titan and Attack on Titan: End of The World respectively.
They were also the first Japanese band to take part in MTV World Stage Malaysia 2015 in front of 20,000 people.
CLOWN MASK
Many of who were curious about the clown get-up that DJ Love wears would be surprised to know that Fukase was the one who was supposed to wear the mask.
"Nakajin and Saori didn't agree to me wearing the clown mask because I'm the frontman," says Fukase.
So was DJ Love forced to wear the mask?
DJ Love said with a laugh: "I am actually the second DJ Love."
"This DJ Love right here is really shy," said Nakajin. "He can't function without the mask. So, he is probably better off with it."
