Ridhwan eyes a KO in KL
Local boxer Ridhwan Ahmad flew off today for Kuala Lumpur, where he will fight in his second professional fight at the One World Hotel in Bandar Utama on Saturday.
The 28-year-old three-time SEA Games bronze medallist will face Indonesian Heri Purnomo on the undercard of a fight between Mexican Juan Bedolla Orezco and Uzbekistan's Qudratillo Abduqahorov for the vacant World Professional Boxing Federation welterweight title.
Purnomo, 23, previously contested twice for the WBC youth world title and has nine professional fights under his belt, although he has won just two of them. But Ridhwan is not too bothered.
"I just want to focus on my battleplan, which is to finish the fight with a knockout, by the second round hopefully," he said.
In February, Ridhwan aced his first professional fight by beating Filipino upstart Melchor Roda on points on the undercard of Pinoy Pride 35 - the Philippines' biggest boxing event - in Cebu.
