What could One Direction be planning to do during their hiatus?
News of One Direction's 2016 hiatus has been making waves on the Internet but fans remain unconvinced that the end is near for the British pop sensations.
The reason behind the decision is ambiguous and the boys themselves seem to be playing it cool on Twitter, so naturally, Directioners are following suit.
The Mirror also ruled out possible explanations such as a rift between the four current members of the group and ex-member Zayn Malik's departure.
Okay, so there's no bad blood between Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne and Niall Horan and it doesn't seem to be Zayn's doing. Now the big question is, why the need for such a long break?
What on earth could the boys possibly be planning to pursue during their time off?
Here's how we think they'll be spending their break.
These ideas may sound ludicrous, but hey, anything's better than using the extra time on their hands to finalise their split, right?
Cloning Zayn

Before they can actually get down to creating a clone of their much-missed fifth member, the boys will have to know the science of cloning.
This means getting the necessary paper qualifications and, of course, Zayn's DNA, which he may or may not be willing to give, hence explaining why they gave themselves a year.
Alternatively, the boys could appeal to their dedicated fans for help.
Surely, someone out there has to have a strand of Zayn's hair or, we don't know, his saliva?
Experimenting with new haircuts?
For all we know, the boys just need some time off to figure out their new haircuts.
Maybe they're going through some sort of hairstyle crisis we aren't aware of? Harry, in particular, has had several hairstyles since we first saw him in the video for What Makes You Beautiful.
Perhaps he's planning to shave off his mane and try a new bald look that fans may not be ready for? If it turns out to be a disaster, at least he'll have a whole year, maybe even longer, to let it grow back.
PHOTOS: YOUTUBE SCREENGRABWe highly doubt Directioners will mind if the Harry and the rest of the boys all decide to go bald (if they're indeed going through that phase in life), but we know for sure that the boys wouldn't want their fans to see them on their bad hair day (year).
Babysitting

It takes a village, or in this case an entire boy band, to raise a child.
The only piece of news more shocking than Zayn's exit or the group's hiatus is that Louis is set to become a father. Yup, the 23-year-old heartthrob is a man now.
This means Louis will be spending a lot more time with his girlfriend and mother of his little boy/girl Briana Jungwirth, which in turn means less time for touring.
Maybe part of the reason for the hiatus is to give Louis more time with his new family. Perhaps Harry, Niall, Liam — Zayn maybe?— have volunteered to help look after his baby?
It would be really sweet of them if that were the case, and we're sure Directioners would love to see their beloved boys raise a child together.
Turn it into a TV series and fans will find it much easier to get through 2016.
Playing professional football

Don't be surprised if you see four familiar faces in English football club Doncaster Rovers' squad next year.
Louis — ah Mr Tomlinson again — landed a deal to join the League One (the third tier of the English football system) outfit on a non-contract basis in 2013.
This would allow him to play for Doncaster's reserve team without compromising on his time with the band.
The one-year break from making music will give him time to pursue his career as a professional footballer. And if Doncaster wants to add more star power to their line-up, they could even consider signing his band mates.
So it seems that Louis will be the busiest member next year, which makes us wonder, is the whole hiatus thing his idea?
