Which MRT stations have free Wi-Fi?
Need to use WhatsApp while waiting for the MRT train to arrive? Now you can, if you are at Buangkok, Kovan, Little India, Paya Lebar or Potong Pasir station.
Free Wi-Fi service was activated at these five stations on Monday (Oct 12).
This brings the number of MRT stations with free Wi-Fi service up to 33.
The Land Transport Authority said in a statement that it would be extending the service to all train stations and bus interchanges by 2020.
Mrs Rosina Howe-Teo, LTA's group director for innovation and infoComm technology, said: "Enabling the first 33 stations with the free WiFi service is part of our programme to provide wireless coverage on our public transport network."
LTA said there are around 700,000 logins to the Wi-Fi service every day – a four-fold increase from when the service was first launched at three stations in August 2014.
Said Mrs Howe-Teo: "We are very encouraged by the growing usage of the WiFi service at MRT nodes. LTA can also use the data to generate useful insights on crowd behaviour and improve the delivery of our public transport services."
