Whether dead or alive, Singaporeans are still not willing to donate their organs.
Kidney, heart and liver transplant numbers have remained low for the past 10 years, while the number of living donors has seen only modest growth.
This, despite legislative changes being made over the years to enlarge the donor pool.
If you need a liver, the wait is around one to two years. If you need a kidney, the wait is a whopping nine to 10 years.
The common reasons people are being taken off the waiting list? Too old, too sick or dead.
